Special Olympics Athletes Participate In Bowling Competition

On Saturday, October 29, fourteen athletes and two volunteers from Breckinridge County competed in the Special Olympics regional event held at Diamond Lanes South.  Participants were required to have bowled 12 games prior to this event.  The athletes/volunteers scores were then averaged and each participant was slotted to go against athletes within the region with similar skill levels.

Daviess, Grayson, Hopkins, Ohio and as well as other counties in the area had representatives at the event.  In all, it is estimated that approximately 150 bowlers competed. The athletes bowled two games and then received ribbons based upon his/her total pins versus other competitors.

Result of each Breckinridge County bowler are listed below.  All results are total pins for two games…

1st place – LaShona Hardin with a final score of 209;  Casey Decker: 299

1st place – Team Bowling:  Tabitha Simms (athlete) and Ellen Gentry (volunteer) with final score of 267

2nd place – Bradley Cleaver: 133; Betsy Lindsey:  158;  Joseph Grimes (athlete) and David Moorman (volunteer):  259

3rd place – Timothy Winstead:  168; Latina Woods:  140

4th place – Doris McHolan: 130

5th place – Lynda Beams: 111; Carl Dela Garza:  57;  Laura Whitfill: 25; David Dowell: 118; Makayla Blair:112

6th place – Monica Arnold: 93

All participants received ribbons for his/her participation and many will continue at the State Competition held on December 3rd/4th in Louisville, KY.
